John Wilfong. "John was born April 8, 1762 and died 1838.
He enlisted in McDowell's regiment under Captain Sigman and Lieutenant
Van Horn. He was wounded in the left arm at Kings Mountain and went
home the day after the battle, but was at Eutaw. He married Hannah
Sigmore, and his son John married Lavina Sumay." He is buried at Old
St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Newton, NC.
