DAR Preservation Recognition Award
Also at the April meeting the John Hoyle chapter presented the prestigious DAR Preservation Recognition Award to Wade Hampton Shuford, Jr. and his wife, Joanne.
The Shufords were honored for their continued work to preserve the historic and cultural heritage of our community. The Shufords have been active in their support and preservation of Maple Grove House Museum and grounds and Propst House Museum. They are docents and strong supporters of the efforts of Hickory Landmarks Society to provide Heritage Days Festival for all the 4th graders of Catawba County. Mayor Pro Tem, Danny Seaver, says “Every community, city, or town needs citizens like “Hamp” and Joanne Shuford as they set the standard of excellence for community involvement.” John Hoyle Chapter is delighted to recognize their continuing efforts for helping to keep history alive in our community with this award.
