Gina Abernethy had a great idea for this meeting - invite members to make "tablescapes", either individually or in teams. The tablescapes were then judged by all the attending members in categories such as "Most Historical", "Best Memories", etc. with winners receiving prizes and a certificate. Here are pictures of the entries.....
We enjoyed a wonderful program given by member Marcia Copper, who dressed as Mrs Claus and told us about the history of the Yule Log tradition. As part of the history she read the poem "How the Grinch Stole Christmas". She invited members to throw a sprig of holly onto the yule log "fire" (provided by Marcia and carried by Eleanor Coleman), as a symbol of throwing away their cares and woes from the previous year.
Gina presented Marcia with a gift from the chapter as a thank you.
As a fund-raiser for the Yellow School Bus fund, Gina Abernethy and Eleanor Herbert donated their tablescapes, and Gina also donated a Christmas scarf, to be raffled. Here is a picture of Gina's tablescape - a representation of a Revolutionary War scene near a church, complete with soldiers, woodsman and citizens. This tablescape was won by member Suzanne Williams, who was thrilled!
